Snow and ice driving

There is more snow predicted for parts of the UK next week. Driving in the snow can be very dangerous. Ice, snow and slush can lead to skidding. Remember the 2 second rule? It can take up to 10 TIMES as long to stop on ice, so leave a much bigger stopping distance between you and the car in front!

Seat Belt Campaign

A new campaign has launched about the importance of wearing a seat belt. Even at 30mph, you can die from a collision if you are not wearing a seat belt. Your organs are literally torn from your body from the impact of the crash. It takes a few seconds to apply, so even when on a familiar road, apply your seat belt and be safe.

11 Year Old Drivers

Are there more cons than pros to 11 year old children having driving lessons? Some companies are charging £50 an hour for children as young as 11 to have lessons on private land. Although allowing them to learn the mechanics of driving, they are not experiencing real life road and traffic situations. Often children can become over confident and intollerant of other drivers when they do go on public roads, leading to them taking risks and being inconsiderate to others. People like this might pass their test at 17 after having minimal lessons on public roads, but will they have the correct attitude to be a safe driver for life?

Observer on test

From April 6th, the DSA examiners will have to ask you 2 questions before you take your driving test. One is whether you would like your instructor to sit in on your test (in the back of the car), and one is whether you'd like your instructor to listen to the end of test debrief.
