It might seem obvious, but before setting off on your journey, check that all of your lights are working properly. Don’t be afraid to be the first to put your lights on.
Make yourself aware of how to use the full beam for use on dark country roads. Remember to put them back to dipped beam as soon as a car comes towards you so you don’t dazzle them.
Make an extra effort to look out for other road users who may not be wearing reflective clothing, such as pedestrians on country roads or bicycles without lights. Be aware that as the sun goes down, some vehicles may forget to apply their headlights.
Keep windows clean to avoid any glare and condensation.
